Take a short hike to Alpine Cascades located off the Rail Trail begin Gorham and Berlin on the East side of the Androscoggin River. This is a great place for a picnic or to admire the waterfalls.
This waterfall peaks out of the mountain and drops into a sizable pool. It can be quite impressive after a strong rain.

Explore the past with the Gorham Historical Society & Railroad Museum. Examine relics from earlier days when Gorham was a major hub between Portland, Maine and Montreal, Quebec. The historical past of Gorham includes hosting tourists from Boston and Atlantic Ports since 1851 when the railroad industry made Gorham a rail hub.

Take a scenic drive up Route 16 from Gorham traveling North towards Errol, New Hampshire. This scenic byway parallels the Bear Brook and is an example way to see raw wilderness in its natural state. See mountain views, a roughed river along the road and a vast forest of mature growth trees. This is called 13 mile woods and is a great place to pull off the road and have a picnic or explore the river banks.
Head East on Route 2 just into Maine and you will find Route 113 South. This is a less travelled but beautiful part of the White Mountains. This forest road winds through the White Mountain National Park and ends near North Conway. There are multiple places to pull off the road and see the Wild River, Mountain Views and old growth forests.
This museum is dedicated to the Mount Washington Auto Road history. Of the many building and barn since the beginning of the auto road, this is the only original remaining building. Visitors can learn about the history of the auto road and see various examples of equipment used throughout the years.
