The Kancamagus Highway (Route #112 from Conway, NH to Bath, NH
Pronunciation: Kank-ah-mah-gus. Kancamagus comes from the name of a Native American chief, Chief Kancamagus of the Pennacook People. The English translation means "The Fearless One."
The Kancamagus Highway is a delightful drive with speculator views, mountain vistas and beautiful mountain streams. Anytime throughout the year, this is a choice scenic drive offering unobstructed views and a purely natural picturesque setting.
Crawford Notch Trek
Route 302 from North Conway to Crawford Notch and Twin Mountain. A short trip up through Crawford Notch to Twin Mountain. Along the route you will find pull-offs, streams or stop for a hike up to Arethusa Falls. The crest of Crawford Notch has a large parking area to view the Conway Scenic Railway Station. Further up the road, you'll find the historic Mount Washington Hotel. The Twin Mountain area also hosted the Cog Railway where you can experience a trip up Mount Washington.
Franconia, Crawford, North Conway, Lincoln Loop
From Lincoln travel North to I93 towards Littleton, Franconia Notch is a dramatic view of the notch including stops at the Basin area and Echo Lake. From Franconia travel North on I93 to exit Route #3 towards Twin Mountain. At Twin Mountain head South on Route #302 towards North Conway. In a short distance you will find the Cog Railway, Mount Washington Hotel and Crawford Notch. From Crawford Notch continue South on Route #302 towards North Conway. North Conway is a great place for shopping, eateries and the Conway Scenic Railway.
Mount Washington Trail
From North Conway, travel North on Route #16 towards Gorham. You will find the best views of the majestic Mount Washington. This route has a number of pull-offs to explore and photograph the views. This route also includes access to the Mount Washington Auto Road, Great Glen Trails, Wildcat Recreation Area and Dolly Copp Picnic area. Continue North on Route #16 to Gorham to explore local shops and merchants as well as the Gorham Railway Museum.
